“Unto Us” holds a lot of meaning & memory for me.  Of Africa and desert nomads, of my husband’s namesake who is the baby in this painting and of our own firstborn who arrived not long before. This mother's face shows the reserve the Wodaabe people prize so highly, but also courage and hope.  The image whispers of the good news of another baby boy, announced first to shepherds. A promise of  Messiah, for all people. Isaiah 9:6-7.
